Hi there, Muse! Welcome to BookOS. Here, you will find a quick documentation and information about your new template.

The sections

In the overview page, you will notice a few different sections. I will explain some of them later, but now you need to know that:

  1. Top 10: It will be populated automatically by adding the 5 and 4 stars books.
  2. Books read by category: This will display all categories that have books in them. The number on the left shows how many books you’ve read, and the on the right shows the total.
  3. Categories with most books: shows the categories that only have books, from most books to less.
  4. Notes: Shows the books you’ve read and the notes instead of the covers.

Widget page

To add the current reading book list as a shortcut on your phone, make sure to download the Notion app and add the 📙 Currently reading page as a widget so you can quickly add notes and quotes in the book’s page.

Add the metadata of the book you just added. Days reading, Added date and label.pages will populate automatically.

In order to add a book cover, you can search for the name of the book + cover on Google.

On desktop, right click the image and select “Copy image address” so you can add the cover without downloading. Select Embed link and add the cover image to the input and confirm.

Notion will download from the link and upload the image to their servers.

Categories and subcategories

In the default template, you will view the categories pop up as you add books. However, you may want to add subcategories if you want to be nitty and gritty.

There are pre loaded categories for you, general, but you may find the need to add more.

To do that, you can go to 🧠 The Brain to view the database in table form, which is the easier way to add or edit the categories.
